The Dropping Well
|
|
|
The water of the Dropping Well that rises from the Nidd
Is the subject that the present writer treats with,
It trickles o'er the limestone rock, as ages back it did,
And it petrified all articles it meets with.
And travellers see the objects so encrusted with the lime
Exhibited for public notice under,
And they stare at them, all goggle–eyed, for quite a lengthy
time,
And say that it's a marvel and a wonder.
I've a case that's very similar, at home, that gives me shocks,
My dear old pal, my very oldest crony,
For all the years I've known him has been always 'On the Rocks'
And his chronic state is absolutely Stoney.
