Captain Henry Metcalfe Appleton, Dragoon Guards, the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Henry Appleton, of Rawden Hill, Arthington, near Harrogate, died at Aldershot on Saturday of pneumonia. He was 43 years of age. Captain Appleton served in the South African War, and took part in the operations at Cape Colony, Orange River Colony, and the Transvaal.
