Roll of Honour

Second Lieutenant George S Appleyard (25), Durham Light Infantry, the only son of Mr & Mrs Appleyard, drysalter, of Sovereign Street, Leeds, and Montrose, Hollins Road, Harrogate, has been admitted to hospital abroad suffering from a severe gunshot wound in the right shoulder. He enlisted in the ranks, went to the Front with the Yorkshire Hussars, and was commissioned to the Durham Light Infantry in May last. Educated at Leeds Grammar School, Lieutenant Appleyard was in civil life in business with his father.
