Private R L Ashby, son of Mr & Mrs C W Ashby, 10 Vale Terrace, Hampsthwaite, who joined the Forces on the 3rd March, 1916, was drafted out to France in June, and seriously wounded in the head on the 14th September, 1916. He was in hospital in France ten weeks, and then brought over to London, where he remained six weeks, and then got his discharge on the 19th January, 1917.
