Captain A N Braithwaite, DSO, is the son of Mr and Mrs Albert Braithwaite, Ve??? Lodge, Kirkstall, Leeds, and a grandson of Mr and Mrs Timothy Newby, of Harrogate. He has held a commission in a West Yorks Regiment, and the command of a trench howitzer battery. He was awarded the Military Cross in 191?. He was educated at Woodhouse Gr???? School, finishing at the Leeds Grammar School. He was a member of the Old Boys' (Harrogate) football team.
