Harrogate Herald - 21st July 1915

No fewer than four Harrogate lads have fallen in action this week : Lance Corporal Arnold [Ellis] Day; Lance Corporal Kelley [Probably Fred Kelly], 5th West Yorks; Private W A Haley, 5th West Yorks; Private J [John] Brown, 1/5th West Yorks. Their portraits appear on our picture page.

 

Claro Times - 23rd July 1915

Private John Brown, of the 5th West Yorkshires, who had been killed in action, was the son of a Bramham resident, and had lived for several years with Mr J W Morrell, of the Queen Farm, Harrogate, before the outbreak of war. A brother has been wounded and disabled for life, and discharged from the Army.
