Second Lieutenant Charles Ashforth Cartledge

 
 

The Times - 7th August 1916

Second Lieutenant Charles Ashworth Cartledge, Northamptonshire Regiment, killed on July 29th, was a son of the late Rev C Cartledge, vicar of Bishop Middleton, Co Durham, his grandfather having been vicar at Bilton, Harrogate. he was 33 years of age, and was educated at Giggleswick School and was a civil engineer. In February, 1915, he joined the Army as a Pioneer, and was attached to the Northamptonshire Regiment. He had been at the Front 14 months. He married, in June, 1914, Ethel Snowden, daughter of the late Rev R K Snowdon, vicar of Ledsham, Yorkshire.
