Private Samuel Cathorall

 
 

Harrogate Herald - 4th April 1917

Roll of Honour

Mrs Cathorall, 36 Park Row, New Park, Harrogate, has received news from the War Office that her husband, Private Samuel Cathorall, was killed in action on March 7th, in Mesopotamia. He had been out twelve months, and joined up directly after war was declared. He was in training at Killinghall Camp for a considerable time. He leaves a wife and two children. The official letter reads : It is my painful duty to inform you that your husband was killed in action in Mesopotamia, and I am to express to you the sympathy and regret of the Army Council at your loss.

The King and Queen also express their sympathy with Mrs Cathorall in her sorrow.
