Air Mechanic F J Corbett

Harrogate Herald - 15th January 1919

AM F J Corbett, Royal Air Force, son of Mrs Corbett, 8 Regent Avenue, Harrogate, died in hospital in France on the 24th November of pneumonia, aged 24 years. Previous to joining the Army in 1915 he was employed by the North British Railway Hotel, Edinburgh, where he held a very prominent position.

The Chaplain at 42 Stationary Hospital, Royal Air Force, France, writing to Mrs Corbett, says :

"The loss of your dear boy must be a terrible blow to you. Please accept my deepest sympathy. He was buried on 26th November, 1918, in our little military cemetery near Charmes, on the edge of the forest among the flying boys. I know that you will be as brave as he was, for his sake and his Master's. he will be so glad to see you facing it like that. May God give you comfort and strength and perhaps one day you will be able to thank Him that the son you bore was among those who laid down his life for the world".
