Harrogate Herald - 19th September 1917

Roll of Honour

David Craven, of Shepstone, Firs Road, Harrogate, has received a telegram from the War Office intimating that his son, Lieutenant George Alfred Senior Craven, West Riding Brigade, RFA, had died of wounds on the 15th September. This was the first intimation of the sad occurrence. Lord Derby expressed his sympathy with the bereaved parents. Lieutenant Craven joined the Army 2 1/2 months ago, and had been at the Front from the beginning of the year, having volunteered for trench mortar service. He was 22 years of age, and grandson of the late Alderman George Senior, JP, of Sheffield. He was educated at Wellington College, Salop. At the time of joining up he was a pupil under Sir Vincent Raven, NE Railway.
