Private C B Eason

Harrogate Herald - 15th December 1915

Private C B Eason, 2nd Battalion East Surrey Regiment, is in the Royal Bath Hospital with injuries to the back. He went out with the Indian contingent, being on the reserve after service in India, and was in most of the hot fighting on the Ypres front in the battle for Calais. The East Surreys got severely handled in the fighting on February 14th. Eason got put out of action on the following day. He was in the trenches near Zonnibeke, when a shell came over and blew in the parapet. Part of the parapet fell on Eason's back, and he sustained injuries to the hip, which still cause him to walk lame. He has been in several hospitals at Kingston, Colchester, Northampton, and now Harrogate, where he is making steady progress.
