Lance Corporal John Kerr Elgin

Roll of Honour

Mr & Mrs William Eglin, of Woodale, Pateley Bridge, have received news from the War Office that their only son, Lance Corporal John Kerr Eglin, Black Watch, was killed in action on March 14th in Mesopotamia. He had been there a considerable time, and joined the colours early in 1915. The official letter reads : It is my painful duty to inform you that your son was killed in action in Mesopotamia, and I am to express to you the sympathy and regret of the Army Council at your loss.

The King and Queen also express their sympathy with Mr & Mrs William Eglin in their sorrow.
