News was received in Harrogate yesterday that Private George Elsworth, who formerly resided with his wife in Nidd Vale Terrace, and was employed at the Harrogate Post Office, had been killed in action. No details of the lamentable occurrence are known.

There have been rumours, strong and persistent, of other Harrogate casualties, but in the absence of official confirmation we refrain from giving names, though in two cases it is feared the reports are only too well founded.
