Norman H Fowler

Harrogate Herald - 12th December 1917

W H Breare letter

I told you some time since that Mr W Fowler's eldest son, Private D A Fowler, of the Honourable Artillery Company, was missing. On Saturday I had a visit from Mr Fowler, bringing me the official notification from the Record Office saying that his death occurred on the 8th of November, and that he was killed in action. The convincing part was information had come of his burial. Fowler, before the war, was at the Bradford District Bank. Mr Fowler's second son, Norman H Fowler, joined the Honourable Artillery Company on the 30th November. The deceased son was but 19 years of age in April last, and he went out in May. To identify the father, I may tell you that he is a member of the firm of Messrs Fowler and Sons, carriage builders, of the Garage, York Place. You who were fanciers will remember him as a well-known pigeon breeder. Mrs Fowler was a daughter of the late Mr Midgley Asquith. The family has our deepest sympathy in their bereavement.
