Private Horace R Longfellow, only son of Mr and Mrs H Longfellow, of Knaresborough, joined the North-Eastern Railway Battalion on its formation, and is stationed at the King George Docks, Hull. Private Longfellow, who stands 6ft 2ins in height, and is only 22 years of age, was born at Horsforth, where he lived until he was eleven years of age.
