Private A Luty, asking for a wristlet watch, says : 

I can assure you time is a valuable thing in the trenches, and it is very awkward being without. There is another Harrogate man here in the company, whom I daresay you will know very well - "Micky" Dawson, the newsagent. He reported sick the other morning and was sent right away to hospital. His complaint was trench fever.
