Much sympathy will be extended to Mr P Maitland, the West Riding Coroner, on the death of his only son, Captain J P B Maitland of the 11th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, who died at Harrogate on Monday from pneumonia and rheumatic fever. Captain Maitland joined the colours soon after the outbreak of the war, and after some time with the Officers' Training Corps at Leeds, he joined the 11th Battalion, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, at Harrogate, rising to the rank of senior captain. He leaves a widow and two young children.
