My young friend Mann, of whom I wrote a week or two ago, duly went to York and enlisted. He joined earlier under the impression that he would be able to get into the cavalry. When he got there he found, as he was not 18 and 8 months, he could not be put into this branch of the service, and so has been sent into the infantry, I hope, only for the time being.
