Private William Masterman

Roll of Honour

Private William Masterman (West Yorks Regiment), who was killed in action on August 16th, is the son of Mrs Masterman of Priest Lane, Ripon. He was educated at Trinity Schools and the Cathedral Boys' Schools, and was a member of the Cathedral Young Men's Bible Class. On leaving school he was for eight years with Mr Baxter, grocer, of the Market Place, and then for fifteen years with Mr Knowles, Westgate. He joined HM Forces in May, 1916, and went out to France in August of the same year. He was 36 years of age.
