Private Edward Ramsey

Claro Times - 2nd July 1915

Photo – Mrs M Wynne, of 9 Grove Street, Starbeck, received official intimation on Wednesday morning that her son, Private Edward Ramsey, of the 1/5th West Yorkshires, had been killed in action on June 18th. Private Ramsey was 21 years of age, having joined the Army in October last, and was well-known in Starbeck and district. He had been employed previous to his enlistment at the Harrogate shop of Messrs Lipton Limited. A letter from Private Ramsey was received from the Front on Saturday, the 19th inst., in which he stated he was quite well. He evidently had been killed the day before his letter was received at his home.
