Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Taylor

Harrogate Herald - 11th July 1917

Roll of Honour

Mrs T Ellis, 51 Cecil Street, Harrogate, has received, through her brother-in-law, Private H Knowles, DSO, a communication from Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Taylor, West Yorks, with respect to her husband, Private T Ellis (33747), West Yorks, who was reported missing after the action on May 3rd. He says :"In reply to you letter, I deeply regret to say that no news is at present available regarding Private T Ellis. He took part in the attack on the German positions east of Gavrolle on May 3rd last, and went gallantly forward with his platoon. When the battalion was mustered after the fight, I much regret to say, he was among them missing. You have my deepest sympathy in your anxiety, and we all grieve to have lost a good comrade and a brave soldier. Any further news which may be received I will send to you at once".
