Harrogate Herald - 30th January 1918

Private Frank Thorpe, Royal Engineers, of 26 Grange Avenue, Harrogate, has been awarded the Military Cross. The card from his Commanding Officer of the 58th (London) Division says : "Your gallant conduct on the 8th January, 1918, near Langemarcke, has been brought to my notice, and I take this opportunity of congratulating you on the good service you have rendered to your country". Private Thorpe is a brother of Mr W H Thorpe, jeweller, Beulah Street.
