Lance Corporal G Woodall

Claro Times – 20th March 1915

Lance Corporal G Woodall, of the West Yorkshire Regiment, has been invalided home suffering from bullet and shrapnel wounds. He was at the battle of Mons, and subsequently at Soissons, on the Aisne, where a party of Germans hoisted the white flag. The West Yorkshires advanced to within thirty yards' range, when the enemy opened fire, and Woodall received a bullet wound in each leg. Whilst placed hors de combat, a shrapnel shell burst near him, and about four inches of the thigh bone was shattered.
