Lieutenant A Leslie Armstrong, of 12 Dragon
Avenue, Harrogate, joined the Royal Engineers in 1916, and went out
to France on August 6th, 1917. he was awarded the Military Cross for
gallantry in action at Armentierres on the 9th and 10th April, 1918.
he was wounded on May 27th near Soissons. For bridging the Sambre
Canal and river near Landrecies on November 4th last, under heavy
enemy shell and machine gun fire, which proved vital to the success
of he last great battle, he has been awarded a bar to his Military
Cross. He is the son of the late Mr and Mrs J Leslie Armstrong,
printer and publisher, formerly of Dragon Parade.
