Harrogate Herald - 5th December 1917
W H Breare letter
Private H Atkinson, of 9 Grove Park Walk, arrived in
Harrogate from Macedonia on Sunday, November 25th. He has been sent
home for a commission. Whilst out there he had malaria, of which he
now and then still feels symptoms. I was much interested to hear
from him the conditions under which he had been serving. Atkinson
has written a most interesting sketch of street life in Macedonia,
which I hope to publish ere long. I am sure Atkinson will
make a fine officer; he seems to have everything that goes to make
one. But how nice it is for his wife and little girl of seven to
have him at home for a fairly long spell, after being so far away so
long.
