A letter was received on Monday at the home of Private W Beck, 1/5th West Yorkshires, Bondend, Knaresborough, stating that he had been slightly wounded. The letter stated that he had been hit in the upper part of the face with a fragment of a shrapnel shell fired from a trench mortar. The wound, however, was not serious. He received his injury at breakfast-time whilst the meal was being prepared. Private Beck is now in a hospital in France.
