Harrogate Herald – 2nd May 1917
Acknowledging receipt of the Herald, W E Bootland
says :
I have not had time to write these last three weeks,
as we have been after Fritz. One afternoon we dropped two heavy
shells into his front line after tea. Four of us and an officer went
over and brought back ten prisoners. Half an hour later we went over
in force and occupied two villages. The battalion has been
congratulated by the GOC of the division. here was a large town in
front of us where the Huns sent many mines up and lit many fires. I
suppose before long he well set it all on fire if he gets time.
Remember me to the boys at the Front. Again thanking you for the
paper, and wishing you every success.
