Harrogate Herald - 20th January 1915
Private John Brennan, of the 1st West
Yorkshire Regiment, and whose home is at Briggate, Knaresborough,
has been shot in both thighs, and is in the hospital at Boulogne.
One of the wounds is rather serious, but in a letter to his wife he
says he hopes to return to England soon. He went through the battles
of the Marne, Aisne, Ypres, and Armentieres, and described the
artillery fir of the Germans as terrible, while in one of his latest
letter he said, "We are up to the neck in water".
