Harrogate Herald - 24th January 1917
Letters
Trooper W Capstick, writing from Salonica,
says :
I always anticipate the Herald coming, and to hear
of the doings in and around Harrogate. I read with deep regret that
my particular chum, Alec Duncan, of the Camerons, is missing.
I sincerely trust better news comes from the War Office. At present
I am situated at the base, and up to now there has been no actual
excitement. It is quite common to see the anti-aircraft guns playing
"pop" with the enemy aircraft. Harrogate chaps are jolly
scarce out here. I met Corporal Sid E Watson, RAMC, [Probably
son of Frederic W Watson, Holmfield, 10 Alexandra Road - 1916
Street Directory] of Alexandra Road, a few weeks ago. He is now up
the line with his unit.
