Harrogate Herald - 5th September 1917
Letters
Private D Cassells, of Summerbridge, writing from France
says :
Having received the Herald and read of your kindness in
distributing requisites for the benefit of your town soldiers'
enjoyment in France and elsewhere, I am writing if it is in your
power to forward me a football, as just at the present time there
are, along with myself, several Harrogate boys. They have suggested
this request to you. Your paper is a thing I eagerly look forward
to, also my chums here all wait patiently for its arrival, and
immediately it appears there's no breaking them off for
conversation. We are in a position for a short time for a good game
of our favourite sport - football. Over my shoulders stand my chums,
who are wondering along with myself whether we are asking too much.
