Roll of Honour
Mr and Mrs Chatterton, Ebor Mount,
Knaresborough, has received the sad news of the death of their son, Driver
Walter S Chatterton, MT, ASC, on November 23rd. His Captain in a
letter states that Driver Chatterton was killed by a bomb
from a German aeroplane, which dropped right in his lorry, killing
both Chatterton and his friend, to whom he was speaking at
the time, and also wounding another man. The news came with a great
shock to his wife and parents, who were fully expecting him home on
Christmas leave. Driver Chatterton was 27 years of age, and
had been with the Forces about two years. He married the elder
daughter of Captain and Mrs ????ton, of Hull, and leaves one son.
Before joining up he was in the employment of England and Co,
scholastic stationers, Hull, and several years with Mr William
Parr, Knaresborough.
