Private Horace Clayton

 
 

Harrogate Herald - 9th May 1917

Among the Yorkshire soldiers who have made the great sacrifice is Private Horace Clayton, West Yorks Regiment, the only son of Mr and Mrs J H Clayton, late of 4 Clarendon Road, Leeds, now of Wath, Pateley Bridge. He was missing on July 1st, 1916, and it has since been ascertained that he was killed on that date. He joined the Army after the outbreak of war, and had served in Egypt and France. He was twenty-six years of age, and before enlistment occupied a position under Mr James Graham, the Leeds secretary for education. He was educated at the Leeds Church Middle Class School.
