Harrogate Herald - 17th January 1917
Letters
Private M Clifford, writing from Limburg, Germany, to Miss
Clough, 21 Granville Road, [Henry Clough (William
Clough & Sons), colliery agent] Harrogate, says :
Madam, Pleased to acknowledge the receipt of the 21st parcel,
which arrived in good condition. I also got the flour, which came in
very useful. I made some nice Yorkshire puddings. I have not
received the boots yet. Expect they might turn up later. I also
received your long letter, and it was a very cheerful one. I will
send you and Mrs Barker my photograph later on. I am
preparing for another Xmas here, and am trying to make it as happy
as I can. I sincerely hope that you and Mrs Barker will enjoy
a merry Xmas and a happy New Year. I hope you will excuse this short
letter, but will write a long one next time. Thanking you again.
