Letters
Driver H Coates writes :
Just a few lines hoping to find you in the best of health, as it
leaves me OK at present. I am sorry I did not get up to see you when
I was at home on leave. I had a very good time indeed. I spent Xmas
at home, also New Year, so I think I was one of the lucky ones.
Anyhow, I found it a change after my long spell. I also wish to
thank you for papers, which you have so kindly forwarded to me. I
hope the next leave I have will be the final one. I sincerely hope
this is the last winter out here. I prefer the dear old Motherland
round the fire. I must thank you once again for the papers, wishing
it and you and its readers every success.

Driver H Coates writes :
I now take the opportunity of writing you these few
lines, hoping they will find you quite well, as it leaves myself OK
at present. I wish to thank you for your kindness in getting me the
melodeon. I think it very kind indeed of Miss Ward to send
it. It will help to pass many weary hours away. I think if we got
some nice weather the job would soon be over. I have received your
paper today, and I wish to thank you for it and all others which you
have been so kind to send. I always look forward to it.
