Harrogate Herald - 29th January 1919
Drummer S Coupland, stepson of the late Mr
"Dick" Jackson, writes :
Dear Mr Breare, I am taking this favourable opportunity of
writing a few words of appreciation to you re the very kind and
sympathetic reference you made in your valuable paper regarding the
death of my dear Dad. I am sure it proved a great comfort to me to
read such beautiful remarks from yourself, Mr Tennant (Adjutant of
the Volunteers), and Mr Stephenson and others. It is very nice to
think that he had such a host of good friends and who appreciated
his work to the fullest extent although he was getting far advanced
in years. He was to my knowledge a great and willing worker in the
cause of music and bands, and ??????? it was his greatest and most
favoured hobby. Please do me the very great kindness in conveying to
Mr Tennant and Mr Stephenson my very best thanks for their great
thought in passing their condolences to my mother and all at home.
