Corporal W Cowan (Canadian Infantry), whose
home is 48 Butler Road, Bilton, Harrogate, was wounded last week
with shrapnel in the face. He is at present in a hospital in France.
Harrogate Herald - 13th June 1917
Roll of Honour
Corporal W Cowan, of 48 Butler Road, Bilton,
Harrogate, arrived in England last week, wounded for the second
time, but is progressing favourably. He is in St Luke's Hospital,
Halifax. He was wounded in the arm with shrapnel this time, and has
lost the use of his hand for the time being. It is only a month ago
he was wounded before, but he did not go to England.
Harrogate Herald - 20th February 1918
Corporal W Cowan, Canadian Infantry, whose home is at 48
Butler Road, Harrogate, has un undergone an operation for
appendicitis. He was taken ill suddenly whilst up the line, and had
to be rushed down to the nearest dressing station and operated on
immediately. He is still in a very weak state of health, but has
arrived at Brighton, England, and is a patient at the Canadian
Kitchener Hospital there. He was twice wounded last year.
