Private Thomas Daniel, West Yorks, son of Mr J Daniel, of Bishop
Monkton, who is at present in a Stockport hospital, was severely
wounded in the chest, neck and right arm, and his left arm has been
amputated. The bullet that hit him on the chest penetrated through
24 post-cards, paybook, and 8 letters. If it had not been for these
cards, etc., he would not have been at present on the Somme. He was
assistant with Messrs Lipton, grocers, Harrogate, when war was
declared, joining up in November, 1914.
