Claro Times - 8th October 1915
Lieutenant G F Dimmock, son of Dr A F Dimmock, was
wounded in the right arm on September 27th, and is now in a base
hospital in France. He obtained his commission in the 18th Battalion
Northumberland Fusiliers from the Durham University OTC in
September, 1914, and went into training with the battalion at Halton
Camp. He was gazetted full lieutenant in January last. Early in May
the battalion moved to Whitley Camp, and proceeded to the Front on
September 9th. For a fortnight the battalion was billeted in a
French village near the big offensive movement which started
September 25th.
