I have received the following :

"Kirkside, Bilton, July 13th, 1917. Dear Sir, I am very pleased to tell you that owing to your notice in the paper, Gunner A Dobson's ribbons have been sent to me. I immediately passed them on to him, and he was most thankful for them. No new ones could quite have replaced them, because they are what he wore through the fighting in France. He asked me to thank you for your kindly interest, and I do so with pleasure. Yours gratefully, E Wilkinson (the lady near Bilton Church, but not the donor of the donkey).
