Claro Times - 3rd April 1915
On February 20th we published a group of nine photographs of
members of the family of Mrs Currie, of Denmark Terrace, who are on
service with the Forces. We were pleased to receive the following
from Corporal A Driver, 2/8th Battalion Scottish Rifles,
stationed at Dudhope Castle Barracks, Dundee, Scotland - "It
may interest you to know that instead of nine members of the Currie
family on service there are altogether 13, other three more in
France, at the base with the motor transport as mechanics, and
myself in Scotland, waiting orders to leave at any time with the
Scottish Rifle Brigade. We can also go back as far as "The John
Adams Company", in India, and later in the Crimea and Indian
Mutiny, and find our forefathers well represented. Our
great-grandfather was a recruiting sergeant and grandfather was
through Sebastopol, Alma, Balaclava, and later passed through the
Indian Mutiny".
