Harrogate Herald – 24th April 1918
W H Breare letter
Lance Corporal J Drury, former errand boy at the Herald Works,
who resides in Tower Street, on final leave called on Friday. Had a
fair experience of the British Army, having been in six different
regiments in 19 months – two Northumberland Fusiliers, Army
Service Corps, Royal Engineers, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry,
and Royal Fusiliers. He is now at Newmarket. Has seen Ernest Carter,
son of the late Mr George Carter, of Robert Street Mews and Mrs
Carter, of Harrogate, who is in Royal Flying Corps; also Cadet
Scholes, of Harrogate OTC. A Knaresborough lad from Savage Yard, is
with Drury, who is looking remarkably well.
