Harrogate Herald – 24th March 1920
Drummer T Gayton, writing from Maymyo, Burmah, says he is in good
health and adds :
I wish to thank you for sending me the Herald, as
it is fine when I can read about the news from my old town. We left
England on the 26th October, 1919, and had a very good voyage,
arriving at Rangoon, December 8th. I am pleased to say I have had a
very good time since I have been out here. It is just like being at
home, Maymyo is a big hill station and not too hot. It will soon
roll on, and then I will get back to the old town once more. Wishing
you the best of health.
