Harrogate Herald - 10th April 1918
W H Breare letter
On Friday morning I was pleasantly surprised to meet Philip
Hale. You know Hale and Company, wine merchants, near the
Sulphur Well. He has been training at Catterick, but was home on a
weekend leave. He has to go before a medical board, for he has
broken down in training and had a strong touch of bronchitis when I
met him. I am wondering whether they will reduce his category or
not. He may get his discharge and be allowed to come back to his
business, but of that there is some doubt just now.
