Mrs Hayton, Spring Gardens, Boroughbridge, has received official information that her husband, Rifleman Thomas Hayton (West Yorkshire Regiment), the son of he late Mr W H Hayton, Great Ayton, was reported missing on October 9th. At the outbreak of the war, Rifleman Hayton, who was a member of the Territorials, went into training, and was sent overseas in April, 1915. In February last year his period of service expired, but he rejoined in July, 1916. Previous to joining the Army he was employed by Mr W Waddington, Kirby Hill, Boroughbridge, as a bricklayer.
