Claro Times - 27th March 1915
We reproduce in our picture series this week a
photograph of Sergeant M Henry, Cheapside, Knaresborough, who is
with the 5th West Yorkshire Regiment on the East Coast. He has been
promoted to the rank of Sergeant since the outbreak of the war. Like
his brother, Corporal J Henry, of the same regiment, whose
photograph we published last week, he joined the Volunteers as a
young man, and after some years' service, went on the reserve. On
the formation of the Territorial system he joined the 5th West
Yorkshire Regiment.
The two brothers have been members of the
Knaresborough Silver Band, which is temporary disbanded owing to its
members serving with the Colours, for many years, and were also
active members of the Knaresborough Association Football Club.
