Harrogate Herald - 1st December 1915
Driver A S Higgins writes :
I am now taking the opportunity to thank you very
much for the last two Heralds, which I received all right, and was
sorry I could not drop you a line last week, but I did not have time
as we are at it day and night just at present, so now I thank you
for them both together. I am now living in hopes of seeing England
again before long, because our leave starts this week, so with that
consolation we are all happy and cheerful.
Harrogate Herald - 8th December 1915
Driver A S Higgins, Royal Engineers, writes :
I am
now writing to thank you very much for the Herald, which I am
pleased to tell you I received safe on Saturday evening. I am also
pleased to say I am still keeping well and fit. We have had some
healthy weather lately, with plenty of frost and a little snow last
Thursday, but we have had a change again, and we are in the same old
state, "up to the neck in mud", but at the same time we
are all happy and cheerful. Well, I have not much news this time, so
I will conclude, thanking you again for your valuable paper.
Harrogate Herald - 15th December 1915
Driver A S Higgins says :
The Pioneers, 10th Battalion Staffords,
that were in training at Harrogate, are here as a working regiment
for the Royal Engineers, at least most of them, so I get in touch
with them a lot.
