Harrogate Herald - 17th January 1917
Private Harry Hobday writes :
Just a few lines to you, hoping to find you quite well, as it
leaves me at present. I have received you paper up to the date 24th
December, but no this week's, December 30th, but am looking forward
to it, as it is always welcome out here. We all spent a good
Christmas under the present circumstances, but it is not like being
at home amongst your friends, but I expect we shall all be at home
soon now, as I think it possible for the war to finish this Spring.
I expect things are very quiet at home now with all the boys being
away. I imagine you will have had a busy time this year writing to
all the Harrogate boys, as there are a lot of them out here, and
they all welcome the Herald when it comes. I think I have said all
for this time, wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year, hoping
at the same time we shall all be home to see you before long.
