Harrogate Herald - 12th December 1917
Roll of Honour
W Holdsworth, whose wife resides at 34 Regent Avenue,
Harrogate, has been a prisoner of war in Germany since 1915. Writing
from Hanover to his wife he says he is in the pink, and knowing he
has his release to look forward to is doing his best to keep right.
Her letters and assurance, he says, help him a great deal, but he
could not help laughing when he saw what she said about him settling
down in Germany. "Never mind", he concludes, "we
shall soon be having the old hymn 'Christians, awake!'" He
enquires about the boys, and says what he went through gives him a
fellow-feeling.
