Harrogate Herald - 4th April 1917
Private C Horner writes :
Have received the parcel containing the shears and scissors, and
I am writing to thank you very much for the same. They are real good
ones and just what I wanted, and have come at an opportune moment,
as the Battalion is out of the line at the present time and have
plenty of time to make good use of them. Have had good reports from
home about the way the war is going on, and we are all in good hopes
of soon being back in Blighty, when I may get an opportunity of
thanking you personally for the utmost of trouble you have taken
over this request of mine. Am writing this well behind the line,
where we are billeted in dugouts and getting quite used to living in
semi-darkness. This is quite a good rest for the Battalion after the
strenuous time we had in the line, but we are working hard now
making roads and railways, over which we hope to advance. In
closing, may I thank you once again for your kindness and wish your
Harrogate and Knaresborough papers continues success.
