Mr & Mrs Richard Howell, of Church Square, Harrogate, have received an official intimation that their son Private Edward Howell, East Yorkshire Regiment, was wounded on August 30th. A short time ago we published an account of a brave act by Private Howell at Vimy Ridge, when he saved the life of a wounded comrade during a strong German counter-attack by carrying him back to the lines, a distance of over a mile, whilst under heavy fire.
